The History of Amatsu
Thousands of years ago a group of Malayan people migrated to Japan, taking with them many traditions and skills. These skills have been passed down through the generations.
The acknowledged master of Japanese Budo Medicine principles today is Dr. Masaaki Hatsumi, PhD. Dr. Hatsumi holds scrolls relating to Hichi Buku Goshin Jutsu Ryu (the tradition of the secret flower opening school for the defence of the self), which are over 3000 years old. Amatsu is a modern version of these ancient principles.
The therapy arrived in the West in 1995, thanks to the efforts of three English osteopaths, Dennis Bartram, William Doolan and Chris Rowarth, who studied for many years with Dr Hatsumi, in Japan. Dr Hatsumi broke with tradition by ‘licensing' them to work in the West.
Amatsu has since been registered with the BRCM (The British Register of Complementary Medicine) and the ICM (Institute for Complementary Medicine).
